Park City Sunrise Rotary wants to line Main Street with 1,430 people holding shot glasses on Oct. 10, enough to beat Breckenridge, Colorado, by 10 participants and reclaim the world record for the longest shot ski.
The 10th annual fundraiser has an $86,000 goal to support local grant programs, KPCW reported on Aug. 21. Tickets went on sale that same day.
That's a step up from last year. At the 9th annual event on Oct. 11, 2025, Park City broke the record and raised $70,000 for local nonprofits. But Breckenridge Distillery took the title back in December 2025 at the Ullr Festival, lining up 1,420 participants across 507 skis stretching 2,489 feet along Breckenridge's Main Street. It was the 13th time the distillery has claimed the record.
The rivalry isn't new.
The two mountain towns have traded the title for years, and Park City's Rotary club is betting that 10 extra participants will tip the balance back.
How to help
The club needs ski donations to build the shot ski. Skis must be longer than 175 centimeters with a smooth surface. Twin tips, long rocker tips, narrow race skis and cross-country skis won't be accepted.
Rotary member Mike Luers is collecting donations; email him at [email protected]. Club members were already prepping skis at a Tuesday evening session earlier in August, according to the Rotary's Facebook page.
