Park City's Historic Main Street turns into a live studio Friday, July 31, when the Arts Council of Park City and Summit County hosts its monthly gallery stroll from 6 to 9 p.m.

The free event's theme is "live art." Galleries along Main Street will feature live painting, art demonstrations, and art talks. Park City artist Daniel Ambrosi wrote on X that he'll debut an 8-by-8-foot backlit piece depicting Lower Calf Creek Falls at KWPC gallery, 693 Main St.

The stroll is the first of four community art events the arts council has scheduled through September, according to KPCW.

Executive Director Jocelyn Scudder told KPCW's "Local News Hour" on Thursday, July 30, that visitors will see live painting, demonstrations, and possibly art talks at participating galleries. She called the stroll a way to immerse in the local arts scene.

Summit County Fair Fine Arts Exhibit

Next up is the Summit County Fair Fine Arts Exhibit, running Thursday, Aug. 6, through Saturday, Aug. 8, at the county fairgrounds in Coalville. Artists of all ages may submit any type of artwork. Drop-off is Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Ledges Event Center in Coalville.

Participants can compete for ribbons and cash prizes. The arts council will also select pieces to purchase for permanent display at the Coalville courthouse.

Arts on the Trail

On Saturday, Aug. 22, Arts on the Trail returns along a 1.5-mile accessible route near the Copper Moose Farm Stand in Park City. The event, which Scudder said began in 2018, pairs outdoor walking with live performances and visual art installations.

This year's lineup includes Indigenous-led dance group Cultural Fire Events and pop-up performances by the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, now in its 62nd season. Tickets are $25.

"We found that people really love that intersection between immersing in nature and getting outside, going on a lovely walk and then also happening upon a really unique performance," Scudder told KPCW.

Monster Drawing Rally

In September, the arts council and the Kimball Art Center will co-host the annual Monster Drawing Rally. Artists create 2D pieces during 50-minute live sessions, and each finished work goes on sale immediately for $50. Artists who want to participate must apply by Thursday, Aug. 20.
