Mountain Trails Foundation is calling on Park City riders and trail enthusiasts to help build the final sections of a brand-new downhill mountain bike route connecting the top of Crescent to the base of Park City Mountain Resort.

The nonprofit is hosting an RSVP-only volunteer dig day on Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5:15 to 8:15 p.m., according to the event listing on MTF's website. Volunteers will clear debris, smooth tread, compact features, and remove vegetation along the lower trail corridor. The evening session is expected to wrap around sunset.

The upper portion of the route, called Silver Queen, is already open. It rides well. The Aug. 4 dig day targets the lower sections that will complete the full top-to-bottom connection.

Park City Mountain Resort posted on Instagram on July 17:

Emil Harry, MTF's trail maintenance manager, flagged the project as the organization's signature build for 2026 in a March trail report: "It will be an ongoing project through the summer and will add a new downhill flow element to the system that the people have clamored for."

The finished trail is designed to reduce downhill bike traffic on nearby routes and provide an adaptive-friendly option adjacent to the National Ability Center's McGrath Center, according to MTF's 2025 annual report. The trail will become part of universally accessible routes under assessment through MTF's Adaptive Trail Assessment Program. The project is funded in part by the Mother Urban Donor Gang.

This is at least the third volunteer session on the Loose Moose/Silver Queen project this summer. A June 30 dig day sought 20 to 30 volunteers, and MTF reported on Instagram on July 3 that a group had already come out for finish work on the connector's next phase.

In 2025, MTF engaged 205 individual volunteers who donated 615 hours of labor on dig days across the Park City trail system.
