Three nights of country music start Thursday at the Amphitheater at Canyons Village, with Lonestar headlining Friday and Park City singer-songwriter Mary Beth Maziarz opening the show.
Park City Performing Arts' Concerts on the Slopes series runs its Country Weekend from Thursday, Aug. 6, through Saturday, Aug. 8, featuring Mark Chesnutt, Lonestar and Walker Hayes on consecutive nights. Lonestar takes the stage at 7 p.m. Friday.
Drummer and co-founder Randy "Keech" Rainwater told the Park Record the band's "Keeps Getting Better" tour lives up to its name.
"We just worked up the brand-new show about a month ago," Rainwater said. "We rearranged some songs and added some new ones, and I think this is the best show we've ever put together."
The group has been recording and touring for 34 years, racking up 10 No. 1 hits including "Amazed," "Mr. Mom" and "My Front Porch Looking In," along with three Academy of Country Music awards and one Country Music Association award. The current lineup features Rainwater, keyboardist and guitarist Dean Sams, guitarist Michael Britt and vocalist Drew Womack.
Lonestar released "Ten to 1" in 2023, re-recording those chart-toppers with tweaked arrangements. In 2025, the band dropped "Iconic, Vol. 1," a five-song EP covering songs by Adele, P!NK, Cyndi Lauper, Eurythmics and Christine McVie. The project started during a soundcheck when Womack began strumming Lauper's "Time After Time" and the rest of the band joined in. A second volume covering 1980s songs, including Van Halen's "Panama," is in the works.
Rainwater said he looks forward to the outdoor setting at Canyons Village, noting that open-air shows bring families and introduce kids to the band's catalog.
Local opener
Opening for Lonestar on Friday is ASCAP award-winning singer-songwriter Mary Beth Maziarz, a Park City resident who co-founded Mountain Town Music. Maziarz has released seven albums, placed songs in more than 60 TV shows and films, and previously opened for acts including Etta James, The Wallflowers and Little Big Town at Deer Valley Resort concerts. Her song "Hold On" was featured in the third-season premiere of "Dawson's Creek."
The full weekend
The Country Weekend is part of an 11-show outdoor series organized by Park City Performing Arts, led by executive director Ember Conley. Thursday's opener features Mark Chesnutt, and Saturday closes with Walker Hayes, best known for "Fancy Like," which hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 2021. Hayes' most recent album, "17 Problems," came out in 2025.
