About 50 Silver Creek voters will receive replacement ballots after Summit County left a $71 million recreation bond question off their original mail-in ballots.
The error affects two upper Silver Creek precincts, SCRU:50 and SCRU:8, according to an Oct. 21 Park Record report.
The missing question concerns a proposed general obligation bond for the Snyderville Basin Special Recreation District, commonly known as Basin Recreation.
What affected voters should do
Summit County's Clerk's Office said replacement ballots should arrive early in the week of Oct. 26.
Voters in the affected precincts who have not returned their original ballots should destroy them and vote using the corrected ballot.
The county said it has flagged and removed previously returned affected ballots from processing so those voters can cast corrected ballots.
Residents can identify their voting precinct through the county's interactive precinct map, which is linked from its election FAQ.
According to the Park Record, the county traced the omission to an error in the district's historical boundary description. The Clerk's Office said it would investigate further to prevent a recurrence.
What the bond would fund
The $71 million proposal would authorize borrowing for recreation facilities in the Snyderville Basin.
Basin Recreation has proposed indoor recreation improvements at Silver Creek Village and East Canyon. The district's Better Basin project information describes the facilities under consideration.
Only voters within the recreation district's boundaries are eligible to vote on its bond question.
Voting dates and deadlines
Summit County's 2026 general election FAQ lists early in-person voting from Oct. 27 through Oct. 31.
