A Dolly Parton-themed movie night in Park City will raise money for children's literacy while introducing a new film and wellness festival focused on women.

HERizon will host the fundraiser Monday, Oct. 26, at the Park City Megaplex, 6030 North Market Street. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes a screening of Steel Magnolias, featuring Parton.

The event listing encourages guests to wear denim. A separate community calendar listing also describes guided breathwork and a presentation about Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

Proceeds will support efforts to expand the Imagination Library in Utah. The program provides free books to eligible young children, with the goal of encouraging reading at home.

Parton, who founded the program in 1995, died Aug. 25 at age 80.

New festival planned for January

The movie night is an introduction to the HERizon Film and Wellness Festival, scheduled for Jan. 26-30, 2027, in Park City.

HERizon founder Jenna Hansen is organizing the event with a focus on film, wellness and community connections among women.

The festival's official website describes a five-day program featuring film screenings, outdoor experiences, wellness activities and opportunities for participants to connect.

According to TownLift, the planned festival will combine daytime activities and screenings with evening events.

HERizon is among the events planned for Park City as the Sundance Film Festival prepares to move to Boulder, Colorado.
