Austin Garceau, 38, of Salt Lake County is being held without bail in Summit County Jail on a murder charge after police say he fatally stabbed Damon Enman, 34, at a short-term rental on Deer Valley Drive on July 24.

It is Park City's first homicide since 2017, according to the Park Record.

Park City Police Chief Wade Carpenter announced the arrest July 25, saying officers had taken Garceau into custody in connection with Enman's death. The Park City Police Department identified both men as Salt Lake County residents.

According to court documents cited in KPCW reporting, Enman called 911 around 8:30 a.m. Friday and told dispatchers he had been stabbed. Officers arrived at a home on the 500 block of Deer Valley Drive, between the Marsac roundabout and Deer Valley Resort, and found Enman with a stab wound to the chest. A second man at the scene, later identified as Garceau, had a cut on his arm.

Enman told officers the other man had grabbed a knife and said he was going to kill him. A witness told police Garceau said Enman "was a reptilian" before stabbing him, according to court documents.

Enman was airlifted from a landing zone at City Park to a Salt Lake City-area hospital, where he later died. At least one victim was seen being loaded into a medical helicopter around 9 a.m., the Park Record reported.

The property where the stabbing occurred is listed as a short-term rental on Airbnb, according to KPCW. City spokesperson Clayton Scrivner said on July 24, that the incident appeared to be isolated and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.

Formal charging documents had not been filed as of July 27. The Park City Police Department said Saturday that the investigation is continuing.
