Basin commuters heading to Salt Lake City on July 24 will find a stripped-down Route 107. High Valley Transit is converting the route to a direct express for all of Pioneer Day, skipping every intermediate stop and serving only three locations: Kimball Junction Transit Center, Jeremy Ranch Park & Ride, and Salt Lake Central Station.
The change means riders who normally board at stops between Jeremy Ranch and downtown Salt Lake City will have no Route 107 service in either direction for the entire day.
Whitney Childers, a High Valley Transit spokesperson, posted the detour notice on the agency's rider news page on July 22.
Construction also paused for the holiday
Separately, High Valley Transit and UDOT will pause construction on the SR-224 "Bobsled Express" bus rapid transit project for Pioneer Day and resume work July 27, according to a KPCW report from Monday, July 20. Gabriel Shields, High Valley Transit's chief development officer, told KPCW's "Local News Hour" that crews had started updating traffic signals on SR-224 near Kimball Junction on July 20 as part of the $110 million project expected to wrap up by 2028.
