Park City Mountain's new Skyway gondola is moving through test laps at Canyons Village as the resort prepares for its Nov. 20 target opening.

TownLift first reported the development Wednesday, Oct. 21, publishing video of enclosed cabins moving through the gondola's terminals. The footage shows the new lift in motion, although passenger service has not yet begun.

The Skyway replaces the Cabriolet, which carried visitors between the Canyons parking area and resort village for nearly three decades. The new gondola will accommodate up to 10 passengers per cabin and includes a mid-station intended to improve access for guests staying in the village.

Park City Mountain describes the gondola and its adjoining parking structure as major improvements to the arrival experience at Canyons Village. The resort's 2026–27 winter guide confirms the planned connection between the garage and the village.

The gondola is expected to be free to ride, as the Cabriolet was.

Parking changes arrive in December

The Skyway will serve a new five-level parking structure at Canyons Village. Although the resort is targeting Nov. 20 for the ski season's opening, the garage itself is scheduled to open in early December.

Once the garage opens, most drivers arriving before noon will pay $29 per day. Parking will be free after noon, and vehicles carrying four or more people can use designated free carpool areas when space is available.

Limited free parking will remain in the surface lot adjacent to the garage.

Until construction is complete, visitors can park free in Canyons Village surface lots 2, 3 and 4. Attendants and signs will direct drivers to available spaces, with shuttle or walking connections to the upper village. Those temporary lots will close when the garage opens.

The arrangements are detailed on Park City Mountain's official parking page.

The Basin News previously reported the Canyons garage pricing in August.

Mountain Village reservations continue

The resort's Mountain Village base area will retain its advance-reservation system for parking before noon.

Surface-lot reservations will be free from Nov. 20 through Dec. 4, but drivers must still reserve a space. From Dec. 5 through April 3, reserved parking will cost $29 in designated surface lots.

The Mountain Village garage will charge $50 with a reservation. Vehicles carrying at least four people can reserve free carpool parking in the First Time lot.

After noon, Mountain Village lots will be free without reservations.

The resort says its parking programs are intended to manage traffic and encourage carpooling and public transportation.

November opening remains weather-dependent

Park City Mountain is targeting Friday, Nov. 20, for the start of its 2026–27 season, subject to weather and mountain conditions.

The resort's winter guide also identifies the Skyway, parking structure and January's Snow League competition among the coming season's major additions.

For visitors planning an early-season trip, the immediate distinction is between the two projects: the gondola is undergoing testing ahead of the targeted ski opening, while the new garage is not expected to be available until December.
