A truck sideswiped another vehicle's mirror on eastbound U.S. 40 and kept driving Wednesday, July 22, at 8:11 a.m., according to the Park City Police Department.
The hit-and-run was one of more than two dozen calls Park City police fielded during the week of July 21–28, a stretch that coincides with peak summer tourism season and brought a mix of traffic incidents, noise complaints, and at least one animal saga that refuses to end.
Forklift-truck collision on King Road
A forklift and a truck collided on King Road at 11:01 a.m. Thursday, July 23. Police said nobody was injured. Logs did not indicate what caused the collision or whether either operator was cited.
Smoke scare, fight and unwanted guest on Saturday
Saturday, July 25, was the week's busiest day. A caller reported "a lot of smoke, no flames" on King Road at 5:51 p.m. The caller could see smoke rising from a backyard visible from a small street off Royal Street. No fire was confirmed in public logs.
Later that night, a fight was reported on Main Street at 11:07 p.m. Logs provided no details about what started it or whether anyone was arrested.
Also on Saturday, a person described as possibly intoxicated was reported "harassing guests who are trying to eat" at a Main Street restaurant. Police logged the case as an unwanted person.
Manhole covers dislodged by storm runoff
Rainfall runoff forced two manhole covers out of place near Park Avenue and Kearns Boulevard at 4:26 p.m. Wednesday, July 22. An officer repositioned both covers. TownLift's parallel police log confirmed the incident was resolved without further issues.
Loose sheep — again
Sheep were spotted near S.R. 248 on at least three occasions during the week: a single sheep at 7:11 a.m. Wednesday, July 22; an unspecified number at 4:46 p.m. Friday, July 24; and four or five animals "outside" a guardrail along Kearns Boulevard near Richardson Flat at 6:36 a.m. Sunday, July 26.
The sightings continue a pattern. The prior week's blotter, covering July 13–19, also included a report of five loose sheep near PC Hill. No owner has been identified in public logs, and no Summit County animal control response has been documented.
Other notable calls
- A person was seen spray-painting on upper Swede Alley near the Brew Pub parking lot at 8:59 p.m. Wednesday, July 22. Police logged it as suspected criminal mischief.
- A green card was reported stolen before a 7:55 a.m. complaint Saturday, July 25. The victim needed a police report to obtain a replacement.
- A driver on Kearns Boulevard was clocked at 51 mph by radar at 1:33 a.m. Sunday, July 26, near Buffalo Bill Drive. Logs did not say whether a citation was issued.
- A party with "loud music and heavy bass" drew a disturbing-the-peace complaint on Daly Avenue at 10:23 p.m. Friday, July 24. Additional noise complaints came from Telemark Drive at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, July 23, and Prospector Avenue at 12:34 a.m. Saturday, July 25.
- A contractor was reported repeatedly using another business's dumpster on Shadow Ridge Road at 9:28 a.m. Tuesday, July 21.
