Drivers on Deer Valley Drive will lose a lane during midday hours as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) repaves a stretch of the Park City corridor.
The outside southbound lane of State Route 224 will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily between the entrance to Town Point Condos and Aerie Drive, a UDOT spokesperson said in a report first reported by KPCW on Oct. 13. The closures were set to begin later that week.
The lane restriction is part of UDOT's larger SR-224 Preservation Project, which covers the highway between the Marsac Roundabout and the intersection with State Route 248, also signed as Kearns Boulevard. That segment, which also carries Park Avenue signage, runs through some of Park City's most-traveled roads, connecting Old Town, Deer Valley, Prospector and the Snyderville Basin.
Work on the broader project began Aug. 3, according to UDOT's project page. UDOT has targeted a fall 2026 completion.
The project should finish before winter.
UDOT spokesperson Kylar Sharp told KPCW in late September that the preservation project was nearing completion at that point. "Drivers should expect intermittent lane closures and road striping during the day," Sharp said in the Sept. 30 report, referring to an earlier phase of the same project.
The daytime closures between Town Point Condos and Aerie Drive represent a separate, later phase focused on that specific segment of the corridor.
Beyond repaving, the preservation project includes ADA pedestrian ramp upgrades, sidewalk improvements, updated pavement markings and striping, sign replacements, limited traffic signal work and landscaping restoration. Access to homes, businesses and transit facilities will be maintained during construction, according to UDOT.
Most milling and paving operations on the broader project have been scheduled overnight, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., to limit daytime traffic disruption. Work extends to 8 a.m. on Sundays. The new daytime lane closure on the Town Point Condos-to-Aerie Drive segment is an exception to that overnight pattern.
No detour route has been announced. UDOT has not indicated how long the daytime closures will last.
