Dog owners heading to Run-A-Muk on a weekday will find the gates locked starting Wednesday, Sept. 2.
Basin Recreation is closing the off-leash dog area while crews resurface about 1.5 miles of trail, TownLift reported. The resurfacing aims to reduce trail damage during winter and muddy conditions and improve long-term durability, the agency said.
During the first week, the area will be closed Wednesday through Friday and reopen for the weekend. Starting the following week, Run-A-Muk will be closed every Monday through Friday. Weekend access continues throughout the project.
The weekday closures are meant to keep trail users safe and let contractors work without interruption.
Basin Recreation has not announced a completion date. The agency said it will share updates as work progresses.
