Park City Performing Arts is offering discounted tickets for the final Concerts on the Slopes show of summer: $25 for adults and $15 for children at the "I Love the '90s" concert Friday, Sept. 4.
The nonprofit launched its "Love Our Community Campaign" to make live music affordable for local families. Vanilla Ice, C&C Music Factory and Color Me Badd will perform at 7 p.m. at the Amphitheater at Canyons Village.
Executive Director Ember Conley told the Park Record the idea came from a simple outing. "We went to a movie the other day, and it was very expensive," she said. "So, we thought, 'Could Park City Performing Arts offer an experience at a cost of a movie ticket or less?'"
The campaign started with the Rick Springfield and Dylan Scott concerts the week of Aug. 21 and runs through the Sept. 4 finale.
Conley said the push grew from what the organization saw at its Aug. 21 Maoli concert. That show drew the highest first-ticket purchases in the four-year history of Concerts on the Slopes. About 85% of those tickets were bought by people outside Park City and Summit County. More than 750 purchases accounted for roughly 1,800 tickets, all from first-time attendees.
The Maoli show also ranked among the series' highest in children's ticket sales.
That family turnout shifted the nonprofit's thinking.
Park City Performing Arts partners with Canyons Village Management Association and Vail Resorts for use of the amphitheater stage but does not receive money from either partner, Conley said. The organization relies on donors and fundraisers rather than ticket revenue alone.
The amphitheater can hold up to 5,000 people, a capacity the series has not yet reached. Conley said the nonprofit wants to fill the lawn over Labor Day weekend. Attendees can bring picnics and non-alcoholic drinks.

The nonprofit is also running a membership drive. Members receive four VIP tickets to any show in the Main Stage Series at the Eccles Center for the Performing Arts or the Concerts on the Slopes series. Details are at parkcitypa.org/membership.
