Summit County residents can get free flu and COVID-19 vaccines at three drive-through clinics during the first week of October, with no appointment needed.

The Summit County Health Department announced the schedule on KPCW on Sept. 14. The clinics run one day each in three locations:

  • Tuesday, Oct. 6 — Kamas
  • Wednesday, Oct. 7 — Coalville fairgrounds
  • Thursday, Oct. 8 — Park City Mountain Resort

The Coalville clinic is moving to the fairgrounds in 2026 to handle higher demand, Deputy Director Kendra Babitz said.

The vaccines are free.

The department accepts all insurance. For two plans it does not carry, staff can help residents seek reimbursement.

"We have a lot of people come on their mountain bike, especially here in Park City," Babitz said, adding that the clinics welcome anyone on foot, on horseback or in a vehicle.

The clinics offer Moderna mRNA vaccines for flu and COVID-19. Residents who prefer a traditional vaccine option can get one through other county providers, according to KPCW's Local News Hour segment.

The department has not decided whether to offer the new FDA-approved mRNA flu vaccine. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) vaccine advisory group has not yet issued its approval.

RSV and pneumonia vaccines will not be available at the October clinics. Babitz recommended residents discuss those with a healthcare provider.

Measles outbreak continues statewide

The clinics come as Utah continues to battle a measles outbreak that began June 20, 2025. More than 680 people statewide had gotten sick across 22 of the state's 29 counties as of mid-2026, PBS NewsHour reported.

Summit County confirmed its first measles case in January, the Park Record reported. A student at South Summit Elementary School had attended school while infectious. The health department issued a broader measles advisory in March urging residents to check their vaccination status.

Babitz warned that if a measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) outbreak occurs, unvaccinated students could be required to stay home from school for 21 days. Demand for the MMR vaccine has increased amid the ongoing measles concerns, according to KPCW.

Back-to-school vaccines, including MMR, are available by appointment through the Summit County Health Department at 650 Round Valley Drive in Park City. The department can be reached at (801) 442-2610.
