Thousands of donated books will fill the third floor of the Park City Library over Miners Day weekend, priced at $1 to $3 each.

The Friends of the Park City Library will hold its twice-yearly book sale Sunday, Sept. 6, and Monday, Sept. 7, according to TownLift. Children's books go for $1, adult paperbacks for $2 and adult hardcovers for $3.

Rachel Sahlman, co-chair of the Friends of the Library board, said the Miners Day timing works well because the library sits just off the parade route. "It's really nice timing because people will come down right after the parade," she said.

This year's selection should be especially large. The Summit County Library paused accepting donations at its Kimball Junction branch during a relocation to the former Skullcandy building, and organizers say the Park City sale's inventory has grown.

On Sunday, Friends members get early access from 8 to 10 a.m. Memberships start at $25 a year and can be purchased at the door. The sale opens to the public at 10 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. both days.

Monday's final two hours bring the best deal: from 2 to 4 p.m., shoppers can fill a provided tote bag with as many books as it holds for $15. Sahlman noted "the tote bags are pretty darn big."

A separate room holds children's books, puzzles and games for families. Payment is accepted by cash, Venmo or credit card, though card purchases must exceed $10.

Proceeds fund programs the city's library budget does not fully cover. Those include Music on the Patio, Saturday Kids Crafternoons, the Films in the Park series, e-book purchases and author visits through One Book One Community. The Friends also recently helped the library buy a memory station that lets patrons digitize family photos.

The 130th Miners Day Parade runs down Main Street and Park Avenue on Monday, Sept. 7, with road closures from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
