Summit County deputies arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI at Mr. Carwash in Kimball Junction on Thursday, Sept. 3, after observing a driving pattern consistent with impairment.

The driver showed signs of impairment during field sobriety tests, according to the weekly police log reported by Townlift. Deputies found a THC vape and oxycodone pills on the driver, as well as open alcohol containers in the vehicle. No charging information was available.

The log covers incidents reported to the Park City Police Department and the Summit County Sheriff's Office from Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 6.

School-area concerns

Two reports of suspicious activity near schools drew police attention during the week.

On Sept. 2, a parent reported a man walking around McPolin Elementary during school loading hours. The man had not been seen interacting with students. The log does not indicate whether officers located or identified him.

On Sept. 1, a suspicious vehicle was reported leaving a parking lot near Kearns Boulevard. Officers worked with a security team to determine whether it was connected to student pickup.

Retail theft arrest

Deputies responded to Macey's in Pinebrook on Thursday, Sept. 3, after a woman was reportedly attempting to steal merchandise. Store employees told deputies the woman was believed to be connected to multiple prior thefts. She fled but was later located and taken into custody.

Traffic and road hazards

On Aug. 31, a vehicle was stopped on I-80 for speeding and expired registration after reportedly traveling more than 90 mph in the far-left lane and cutting off several vehicles.

A driver was stopped on Sept. 2 for impeding traffic on Deer Valley Drive South, traveling about 5 mph in a 25 mph zone with a line of vehicles behind them. On Friday, Sept. 4, multiple vehicles were stopped after reportedly rolling through a stop sign near Holiday Ranch Loop and Little Kate Road.

A large rock was removed from a lane near Mile Marker 2 on SR 248 on Thursday, Sept. 3.

Other incidents

An e-bike rider crashed on North Larkspur Road on Aug. 31. The rider was conscious but responding slowly.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, a man outside the No Name Saloon was reportedly trying to fight people and putting his hands on them. A caller on Saturday, Sept. 5, reported a motorcyclist threatened her and called her derogatory names. The man was described as about 5 feet, 4 inches tall with a stocky build.

Officers found a person intoxicated and asleep in a vehicle on Main Street on Saturday, Sept. 5, and helped arrange an Uber ride home.

An injured hawk was reported hiding in electrical equipment between two businesses on Main Street on Sunday, Sept. 6. The outcome of that call was not included in the log.
