Park City-area skiers holding an Ikon Pass will have access to three new Asian destinations for the 2026-27 winter season.

Alterra Mountain Company announced Thursday, Sept. 10 that Madarao Mountain Resort in Japan and Beidahu Ski Resort and Lake Songhua Resort in China have joined the pass. The additions bring the Ikon Pass's Asian network to 14 resorts across Japan, China and South Korea.

Ikon Pass holders will receive seven days at each of the three new resorts. Ikon Base Pass holders get five days at each. There are no blackout dates. The destinations are not available on the Ikon Session Pass.

The expansion matters locally because six Utah resorts sit on the Ikon Pass: Alta Ski Area, Brighton, Deer Valley Resort, Snowbasin, Snowbird and Solitude Mountain Resort. Deer Valley is owned by Alterra, the Denver-based company that operates the pass.

"Japan's snow needs no introduction, and Jilin province is one of the fastest-growing ski regions in the world," David Flueck, Alterra's chief customer officer and president of Ikon Pass, said in the announcement.

What the new resorts offer

Madarao Mountain Resort sits in northern Nagano, Japan. Sixty percent of its terrain is ungroomed, and the resort has 12 designated tree-skiing courses.

Beidahu Ski Resort lies in China's Jilin province at the base of the Changbai Mountains. It features a 160-day snow season and one of the largest vertical drops in Asia, according to Alterra's announcement.

Lake Songhua Resort is about nine miles from downtown Jilin City. It offers night skiing, terrain for multiple ability levels and has been named China's Best Ski Resort for nine consecutive years, according to Alterra.

Broader network growth

With the three additions, Ikon Pass holders can access up to 98 ski days across Asia for the 2026-27 season. The pass spans 80 destinations across five continents and 13 countries.

Alterra also added two free days at Caberfae Peaks in Michigan and Snowy Range Ski Area in Wyoming through its Bonus Mountain program, KPCW reported.

When the pass went on sale in March, adult pricing started at $1,349 for the Ikon Pass and $924 for the Ikon Base Pass, according to a Deer Valley Resort announcement. Both are on sale through the Ikon Pass website.
