Community Action Services and Food Bank will close its Heber City food pantry in mid-November, directing residents who need food assistance to the Christian Center of Park City.

The nonprofit confirmed the closure in an official update dated Oct. 27. Its Provo, Oakley and Coalville pantries will remain open, along with other direct client services.

The closure is part of a broader financial crisis. Community Action said it needs to raise $1.5 million by the end of 2026 to maintain operations into 2027. The organization reported receiving $250,000 toward that goal as of Oct. 27.

Community Action is also laying off 15 employees and cutting seven hours per week at its Provo food pantry. That reduction will eliminate about 200 household appointment slots each week, according to KSL.

The organization said the changes are intended to reduce operating costs while preserving services.

Food assistance in Park City and Heber

The Christian Center of Park City (CCPC) operates free food pantries in both Park City and Heber Valley.

The Park City pantry is at 1283 Deer Valley Drive. The Heber Valley pantry is at 55 E. Center St. Both are open Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pantry visitors can make two grocery visits per month and choose food for everyone in their household. Proof of residency in Summit or Wasatch County is required at each visit.

Both locations also offer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) eligibility screenings and application assistance.

CCPC has not announced a specific expansion of pantry hours or services in response to Community Action's closure.
