Bridge21 Park City topped its $75,000 fundraising goal at the Prospector Theatre on Saturday, Sept. 12, drawing more than 200 people to its second annual Songwriter Sessions and Art Auction.

The money will support what Bridge21 says is Utah's only long-term housing for adults with autism and intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The nonprofit opened its first home in Silver Creek Village in May 2025, where four residents pay 60% of market rate, with utilities and daily skills programming included.

The evening paired Nashville songwriting with a live art auction featuring more than 60 pieces, the Park Record reported. Three songwriters performed: Steve Bogard, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee whose songs have been recorded by George Strait and Reba McEntire; Kylie Sackley, who has written for Sam Hunt and LeAnn Rimes; and Brian Davis, whose credits include Brantley Gilbert and Jason Aldean, according to TownLift. Bogard closed the set with a George Strait medley.

The auction sold 59 of 60 pieces by the time bidding ended Monday, Sept. 14. Artist David Riley donated "The Big Guy," which fetched $14,000. Riley also donated the featured piece at Bridge21's inaugural fundraiser. Other works came from Gabe Westberg, board member and artist Liza Howell, and Bridge21 residents themselves.

Resident Sophia Schaffer spoke about her path to Bridge21, describing a previous 24/7 care facility that was overwhelming and limited her independence. Schaffer received a standing ovation.

"Sophia's story brought tears to my eyes, and to a lot of those in the room," Program Coordinator Meredith Powell said.

Executive Director Stephanie Polukoff said the $75,000 figure was not what stayed with her. What mattered, Polukoff told the Park Record, was watching Schaffer talk about her jobs, her confidence and her growing independence.

Board Chair Wes Stout also addressed the crowd about Bridge21's mission. All current residents live and work in Summit County, and the nonprofit runs public programs including a biweekly "Buds and Blooms" gardening series and weekly Thursday "family dinner" nights.

Bridge21 aims to expand to three properties housing 12 residents by 2027.
