Four-time Grammy nominee Boney James will play the Canyons Village Amphitheater on Saturday, August 1, at 7 p.m., bringing more than 20 Billboard Smooth Jazz No. 1 singles and a catalogue spanning 19 albums to Park City Performing Arts' Concerts on the Slopes series.
Guest act Take 5 opens the show.
"In a setting like Park City, the beautiful nature is quite inspiring," James told the Park Record. "I'm sure it will be a special day."
James, who picked up the clarinet at age 8 and switched to saxophone two years later, released his debut album "Trust" in 1992. His set list Saturday will pull from hits like "Butter," "Sweet Thing," and "Hold Tight" alongside tracks from his 19th and most recent album, "Slow Burn," released in 2024 on Concord Records. That record features bassist Marcus Miller and R&B singer October London and produced a Top 10 R&B crossover hit with "All I Want Is You."
The saxophonist still practices every day, citing the philosophy of cellist Pablo Casals, who in his late 80s told an interviewer, "I think I'm making progress."
James said his 20th album is already recorded and due for release in autumn 2026, though he hasn't revealed the title or featured artists.
