Nordstrom Rack will open its first Kimball Junction location on Oct. 22, bringing a national off-price retailer to the Junction Commons shopping center at 6699 N. Landmark Dr.

Doors open at 9 a.m. that Thursday, according to the Park Record. The store will sell clothing, shoes, accessories and home decor at discounts of up to 70%.

Junction Commons is the former Outlets Park City, a site now at the center of a proposed 19-building mixed-use redevelopment. The Summit County Council has a public hearing on the Junction Commons Master Planned Development scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Sheldon Richins Building auditorium, 1885 W. Ute Blvd. The applicant is Elliott Workgroup, representing property owner SRE Ontario LLC.

The Park City store is one of 20 new Nordstrom Rack locations opening between August and November across 15 states, USA Today reported. Combined with four stores that opened earlier this year, the chain is adding 24 locations in 2026. Nordstrom Rack president Gemma Lionello said in a July press release about the national expansion that the company is "excited to grow our footprint…"

The push comes as competitor Saks Global closed 57 of its Saks Off 5th stores, according to Chain Store Age. Nordstrom now operates nearly 400 locations nationwide under its Nordstrom, Nordstrom Local and Nordstrom Rack banners.

Grand opening festivities will include free coffee, giveaways and entries for a chance to win a $1,000 gift card, according to Nordstrom Rack. The company also plans a pre-opening shopping party before Oct. 22; shoppers can RSVP on the Nordstrom Rack website.

Residents who want to weigh in on the broader Junction Commons redevelopment can attend the Sept. 2 public hearing or contact Summit County planning staff. The project, listed as #24-087, would rezone part of the site from the Town Center Zone to Neighborhood Mixed-Use 1.
