The Summit County Sheriff's Office arrested a heavily intoxicated man who refused to leave a private event at a Snyderville Basin residence on Saturday, July 25, capping a week that also brought two backcountry rescues and multiple DUI arrests along the I-80 corridor.

Deputies responded after the homeowner reported an uninvited individual had shown up, was disruptive, and needed to be removed, according to the Sheriff's Office weekly shift report published by the Park Record. Law enforcement asked the man to leave multiple times. He refused. Deputies arrested him for intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Two Search and Rescue operations

Summit County Search and Rescue extracted a hiker with a broken ankle near Wall Lake on Tuesday, July 21. Four days later, on Saturday, July 25, SAR teams responded to an injured dirt biker near Smith and Morehouse and safely brought the rider off the mountain.

Both individuals were safely extracted, according to the report.

DUI enforcement on I-80

Deputies made at least two DUI arrests on Interstate 80 during the week of July 20–26.

On Monday, July 20, Summit County Dispatch issued an attempt-to-locate call for a vehicle struggling to maintain its lane on eastbound I-80. A witness reported the car had nearly struck a concrete barrier. Deputies located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and arrested the driver after poor performance on field sobriety tests. The driver was booked into the Summit County Jail.

On Friday, July 24, deputies stopped a speeding vehicle traveling westbound on I-80. The driver again showed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests. Deputies arrested the driver and towed the car, which had "fresh damage" on its passenger side. Deputies could not determine whether that collision had occurred in Summit County.

Road rage arrest near Silver Summit

On Thursday, July 23, deputies responded to a road rage incident that began near the Silver Summit roundabout and escalated into an alleged assault on Pace Drive. A suspect had followed a woman to the area and assaulted her. As we reported Tuesday, license plate readers tracked the suspect's vehicle approximately 30 miles to South Jordan, where police detained him. He was transported to the Summit County Jail.
