An all-women ski film tour with deep Park City roots stops at the Jim Santy Auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 19.

The Girl Winter tour, which has grown each year since its debut, brings five films to 46 cities across the country. The headliner is "Winter Elements," a feature-length documentary produced entirely by women and spotlighting women who work across the ski industry. Among them is Park City-based Olympic freeskier Devin Logan, a three-time Olympian who won a silver medal in slopestyle at the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, as first reported by the Park Record.

Behind the camera is Moonrise Creative, the production company co-founded by Park City native Sierra Schlag. Schlag, a professional skier and former moguls and halfpipe competitor, grew up here with two brothers who were professional skiers and attended the Winter Sports School. She left for college, studied environmental science and planned to work in climate before rediscovering her passion for skiing.

Logan retired from competition in 2022. She now lives in Park City and works as a private chef while staying active in freeskiing.

Moonrise Creative's first feature, "Advice For Girls" in 2023, was billed as the first all-women ski film created entirely by women. "Winter Elements" is the follow-up, profiling CAT drivers, ski patrollers, avalanche forecasters, photographers and Olympic athletes alongside Logan.

"I feel like we're served this narrative of, there's no women working in the outdoor industry, and so this film is trying to spotlight (that) we're already here … We've got everything," Schlag said at a Thursday, Sept. 24, panel event in Salt Lake City.

That panel, held at the Evo store, drew about 50 women in outdoor media. Panelists included photographer Re Wikstrom, professional skier Rachel Burks, Salomon Alpine North America category manager Lauren Samuels, Stio brand manager Sarita Ackerson and Moonrise Creative co-founder and cinematographer Iz La Motte. Burks, a freestyle skier, said the Moonrise Creative project was the first in 20 years that paid her for her work.

The tour kicked off Friday, Sept. 25, at The Depot in Salt Lake City. In 2024, the tour had 32 stops and sold out four of its first five shows, according to Backcountry Magazine. This year's run has grown to 46 stops.

Four shorter films round out the Park City screening: "VIVID," "Biscuits," "Theory of Butter" and "Rapid Fire." The tour describes its lineup as "femme-forward and gender-nonconforming."
