Two DUI arrests, recurring loose livestock on Kearns Boulevard and a string of late-night noise complaints filled out the Park City Police Department's July 27–Aug. 2 log, adding to a week already marked by seven crashes and hit-and-runs tied to the Extreme Cup soccer tournament.
DUI arrests
Summit County deputies arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI on Wednesday, July 29, after observing signs of impairment during a traffic stop and administering field sobriety tests, according to public police logs. The location was not specified.
A second suspected DUI was logged Thursday, July 30, at 8:38 p.m. after a driver reportedly struck traffic cones near Park City High School, as previously reported. Officers pulled the driver over west of the school, according to the Park Record.
Sheep on Kearns Boulevard — again
Three sheep were reported loose near Kearns Boulevard and Round Valley Drive on Tuesday, July 28. Three days later, on Friday, July 31, approximately 10 sheep were spotted wandering Kearns Boulevard near the Park City School District campus at 7:07 a.m., according to the Park Record.
The sightings continue a pattern. The prior week's blotter also documented multiple loose sheep near SR-248 and Kearns Boulevard, including four or five near Richardson Flat Road on Sunday, July 26.
Noise complaints span Old Town and Snyderville Basin
The week opened Monday, July 27, at 7:38 a.m. with a Daly Avenue resident reporting construction workers playing loud music and "waking up the whole neighborhood," according to police logs published by the Park Record.
The complaints escalated after dark. On Thursday, July 30, at 10:35 p.m., a caller reported a large party atop the China Bridge garage with people shouting and screaming. The caller told police children were trying to sleep. Officers logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
Overnight Saturday, Aug. 1, police fielded three more calls: loud music and a possible party on Lowell Avenue at 1:26 a.m., people yelling and playing music in a Lower Iron Horse Loop parking lot at 2:37 a.m. with up to five people present, and loud parties on North Snowtop Road.
On Sunday, Aug. 2, at 10:29 p.m., residents reported a group of men smoking and making excessive noise outside apartments on Homestake Road. Police again logged the case as suspected disturbing the peace.
Other incidents
A rear-end collision with airbag deployment near Treasure Mountain Junior High on Wednesday, July 29, temporarily blocked traffic. No injuries were specified in public logs.
A Park City Transit ADA van was involved in a non-injury crash on Park Avenue on Monday, July 27, with one passenger aboard.
On Thursday, July 30, a caller reported a vehicle speeding, weaving through traffic and brake-checking other vehicles on U.S. 40. On Saturday, Aug. 1, a vehicle was reported driving the wrong way on Fifth Street between Main Street and Swede Alley.
Traffic signals were reported out in all directions at the intersection of Park Avenue and Deer Valley Drive on Sunday, Aug. 2.
