The Snyderville Basin Planning Commission will hold a public hearing Tuesday, Aug. 25, on sweeping amendments to the basin's General Plan and Future Land Use Map, the foundational documents that guide all development decisions across the area.

All 11 chapters are on the table.

If the commission votes to recommend the amendments, they advance to the Summit County Council for final approval, according to the commission's agenda.

County planner Mustapha Osman and principal planner Ray Milliner are leading the effort. The commission has been reviewing sections of the General Plan twice a month, according to the Park Record, with work sessions dating back to at least April 14. At that meeting, commissioners discussed affordable housing, elder care, broadband access, wildlife crossings, open-space bonds and multi-use trails. A June 9 work session focused on the transportation and public facilities chapters.

Tuesday's meeting marks the shift from discussion to formal action. The specific text of the proposed amendments has not been made public in a format available for this report; staff reports were posted to summitcountyutah.gov on Friday, Aug. 21.

Traffic study rules also up for hearing

A second public hearing will address amendments to the Snyderville Basin Development Code's transportation chapter, establishing new requirements for when developers must submit a traffic impact study. Milliner is the staff lead on that item as well.

Tech Center subdivision on the docket

The commission will also consider a six-lot preliminary subdivision plat at 2011 Tech Center Drive, filed by applicant Steve Borup. Principal planner Jennifer Strader is the staff lead on the project, numbered #26-055. That item is an administrative action, not a public hearing, so no formal public comment period is scheduled for it.

Tech Center Drive is the same road the Summit County Council voted to rename Nordic Drive in connection with the Altus Park City development by Six Ridge Partners, according to the Park Record.
