Jenn Drummond wants people to send 10,000 thank-you cards in November, and she has a personal reason for the urgency.

Drummond, a Park City entrepreneur and Guinness World Record-holding mountaineer, is launching Thankful & Thoughtful, a campaign encouraging individuals, families and organizations to thank people who have made a difference in their lives.

A free kickoff event runs Monday, Oct. 26, from 3 to 6 p.m. at WIN Park City’s CoLAB, 6699 N. Landmark Drive, Suite K-110, TownLift reported.

The campaign carries personal weight. Drummond’s longtime friend and mountain guide, Todd Passey, died in a skiing accident on Chile’s Osorno Volcano on Aug. 21. Passey, an IFMGA-certified guide with Wasatch Mountain Guides, suffered a fatal fall while skiing with a group, according to The Inertia.

“I kept meaning to thank him in a proper way, but he died in a ski accident in August, and I never got to,” Drummond told the Park Record.

Drummond said she chose to begin the initiative this year as a way to process grief following Passey’s death. He helped her begin her mountaineering journey and supported her record-setting climbs, according to the Park Record.

Participants can write cards on their own, host card-writing gatherings or attend one of two free kickoff events. The other gathering runs Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at JR Law Group, 244 W. 4860 South in Salt Lake City. Cards written at the events will be collected and mailed, the Park Record reported.

Participants can log their cards toward the November goal on the Somedays campaign website, which also provides an RSVP form for both events. Although the campaign emphasizes handwritten notes, digital thank-you cards also count.

Free hosting guides and writing prompts are available through the site. Somedays is Drummond’s platform for helping people follow through on personal goals.

Drummond holds the Guinness World Record as the first woman to climb the Second Seven Summits under the Bass version of the challenge. She later completed the highest and second-highest peaks on every continent, according to her website.

She began pursuing mountaineering after surviving a collision with a semi-truck in 2018. Her book, “SOMEDAYS: The Art of Turning Someday into Today,” is scheduled for release Jan. 12, 2027.
